The Associate Engineer is an entry level position where the engineer will be in a learning and support role in coordination with the Project Engineer in designing mechanical/HVAC/plumbing/fire protection systems for various clients in the various markets within their design team. Coordinate and work with the design team within your discipline and work with the client/PM/Project Engineer to execute project objectives in a timely and efficient manner.

The Project Engineer will be required to sign and seal the drawings where they are the Engineer in Responsible Charge on the project. The responsibilities of this position include:
- Design energy efficient HVAC system and mechanical systems per client requirements.
- Conduct load calculations analysis and energy modeling using programs such as eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR and/or Carrier HAP.
- Review projects regularly to ensure departmental standards and requirements are consistent with client requirements and the project budget.
- Perform design, layout, and checking of mechanical and HVAC drawings and ensure the technical correctness of the drawings by using the applicable job, federal, state and local standards and codes.
- Perform site surveys, energy audits, attend project meetings and provide field construction support, as required.

- Develop commissioning plans for both design and construction phase
- Develop pre-functional and functional performance testing forms
- Perform independent design reviews of the project’s design documents focusing on the commissioning scope of work.
- Develop and track submittal log; including equipment, O&Ms, warranties, etc.
- Attend project meetings as deemed necessary based on the feedback from the Project Support
- Assist with office work such as design reviews and specification development when directed by the Project Manager
- Provide field support as deemed necessary, i.e. technical expertise required, final testing of total building systems, last check out, etc.
- Closely manage the project support person to ensure project visits are both focused and efficient in accordance with the project budget and customer expectation
- Clearly define goals and objectives for the project support person during site visits to help focus the visit and the approach to ensure the entire scope is equally evaluated
- Manage project hours and budgets with respect to deliverables
- Follow and guide all customer / project communication
- Maintain a close touch and feel with all assigned projects
- Develop and finalize commissioning record, i.e. all documentation, executive summary, etc., for review by Project Managers
