Associate Electrical Engineer
Concord Engineering Group is looking for an Associate Electrical Engineer for our Philadelphia office.


The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Research latest editions of building codes and local code amendments, as well as, any industrial design standards that may affect the technical correctness of project’s design.

  • Perform site survey, energy audits, attend project meetings and provide field construction support, as required.

  • Create scope for electrical demolition work, where applicable.

  • Create scope for electrical work required on a project by project basis, for power, lighting, fire alarm, security, tele/data, audio visual and nurse call plans.

  • Perform engineering calculations, preparing single line diagrams, sizing of electrical components and equipment, conduct short-circuit analysis where required and prepare technical specification.

  • Circuit all lighting feeders to panel and add control wiring schematics to floor plans as required.

  • Prepare panel schedules and load summaries using NEC Power Load Analysis table to show the total connected and demand loads anticipated for the project.

  • Complete energy compliance reports for all lighting projects using USDOE ComCheck software package to prove compliance with energy codes.

  • Respond to any questions or comment that local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and associated review agencies develop during their review which is required to obtain building permits.

  • Review Request for Information (RFI’s) from contractors during project pre-bid and construction phase and respond as required. Response may require changes in design due to unforeseen on site circumstances or due to Value Engineering by the owner or contractor.

  • Review submittals including shop drawings and product data to ensure compliance with contract specification and design.

  • Issue bulletin and narratives to project manager or owner chronicling changes that have been made to the design that could impact cost.

  • Walk the entire site to verify that all power receptacles, light fixture/switches and fire alarm components are working as designed.

  • Complete Final electrical punch list which must be addressed by the general contractor before final close-out payment.



  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Electronics & Computer Engineering or Engineering Technologies or Energy Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering
